Lamont’s commitment to quality has been totally focused, from the outset, on the vineyard. For this reason knowledge and expertise in the vineyard has been a priority.

Lamont owner, Lindsay McLachlan, took time out from professional practice in the late 1990’s and studied viticulture at the Eastern Institute of Technology.

The culture in the vineyard is one of uncompromising and enduring pursuit of best practice. Vineyard culture is also that all vineyard workers are trained in the theory of vineyard procedures as well as practical implementation. Sessions around the whiteboard or in groups in the vineyard are common occurrences. Maturity, wisdom and hilarity are wheeled into the vineyard at harvest. Members of the Canterbury Mobile Home Owners roll in, complete with their own luxury accommodation and apply their many and varied talents to carefully collect the fruits of the vintage, complete with their own smoko chefs!
